Cricket
Day
On
Friday the 24th August the proposed Centurion Rotary
Club held their first fund raising function. The mission of the Centurion
club is to raise money for good causes having the maximum of fun whilst
doing so.
|
This
year we had thirty-three guests who enjoyed a rare British summers
day at the cricket. Essex played Lancashire at the Castle Park over
four days. Colchester Centurion Rotary Club had their own Marquee
on the third day of play, which was Friday. A good way to finish the
week. |
We
kicked off with tea coffee and homemade biscuits, followed by an early
start on wine sampling. A lovely lunch with more wine sampling. A
dice game, which was, only in case the cricket was rain off, was played
anyway causing much furore. |
|
|
Afternoon
tea was served with more wine sampling. The Cricket on this occasion
could have been more riveting however the banter and the weather made
up for the entertainment. |
We
raised this year £415 for The Multiple Sclerosis Centre. This is a Colchester
based charity supporting anyone affected with Multiple Sclerosis worldwide.
We hope that this will become our yearly signature event.
If
you like wine sampling, good company and Cricket this could be something
to put in your dairy for next year. If you have a business, you can of
course threat this as a corporate day and fund rise for a good cause as
well. If you would like us to put you on mail list for next year please
contact our secretary.
( Web master's comment - there seems to be no pictures of the cricket!)
